Kerry Phillips

Kerry Phillips’ world was forever changed in March 2012 when just one week after her first wedding anniversary, she got the call that no one wants to hear: your husband has died.

Determined not to allow grief to drag her under, Kerry chose to become an advocate for the widowed community, sharing her own journey and those of other young widows. Realizing there was a void for widows and widowers wanting to venture back into the world of dating, she started Young, Widowed & Dating online support group providing a safe, supportive and nonjudgmental forum for the widowed community to share their dating adventures—hits and misses. Her weekly blog - of the same name - covers topics ranging from relationships with in-laws to dating while raising children and everything in between.

Kerry is also a blogger for The Huff Post, covering loss and grieving, Hope for Widows Foundation and covHERstories, a lifestyle blog.

She is currently Vice President of a strategic marketing and communications company specializing in luxury senior housing.

Additionally, she writes and ghostwrites for publications catering to older adults and seniors.

Kerry is a graduate of the illustrious Florida A&M University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Journalism.

An only parent, happily raising a feisty preschooler, Kerry can be found power-walking her way through local 5K races when she’s not writing.
