Black Women Widows Empowered
~Empowering widows of color back to wholeness~

SABRA'S JOURNEY
On February 24, 2012, my life changed. I was left to live life without my husband, Herb, who lost his battle with Lupus and Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Broken and clueless, I sought to re-purpose my life and to help other widows. After searching for support groups for women of color and not having any luck, I decided to DO SOMETHING. In October of 2012, I created the Strong Black Woman Grieve Facebook page and two years later the Charlotte Black Women Widows Moving Forward Meetup group was founded. The following year, Baltimore Black Women Widows Moving Forward Meetup was established.
After his death, I became a certified Christian lay counselor and a certified Career Growth Coach. I love it and each week I also enjoy facilitating a grief recovery support group on behalf of the GriefShare organization and New Beginnings Church in Matthews, NC. I also look forward to hosting a monthly Internet radio show, which brings attention to those women on the move empowering other widows.
Although a native Baltimorean, I'm also proud to call Charlotte, NC my home.
